The Virgo New Moon
When realization becomes a decision
September 5, 2026 · Jing
The New Moon on September 10 falls on one of the most astrologically active days of the month.
Within twenty-four hours, Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Libra, Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini, and the Sun and Moon meet in Virgo.
Any one of these shifts would be worth paying attention to. Together, they describe a moment when something you have been processing internally may finally require a decision in your actual life.
This is also the first New Moon since the August eclipses.
Eclipses tend to reveal things before we know what to do with them. Sometimes the realization is immediate. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for us to understand what actually changed.
You may have seen a relationship differently.
You may have admitted that the way you have been working is no longer sustainable.
You may be questioning a version of success you spent years trying to achieve.
Seeing something clearly and doing something about it are two different things.
This New Moon is where the realization can begin becoming a decision.
What the Virgo New Moon is asking you to change
The New Moon occurs at 18°25′ Virgo.
Virgo is connected to the routines, habits, work, health, and systems that shape everyday life. It notices the gap between what we say matters and what our days are actually organized around.
You may know that your priorities have changed while your calendar still reflects the old ones.
You may know that a relationship has shifted while continuing to participate in the same dynamic.
You may understand what your body needs while overriding it every day.
Virgo brings the focus back to the practical level. What needs to change in the way you spend your time? Which responsibility is taking more from you than it gives back? What system keeps creating a problem you have been trying to solve through effort alone?
This New Moon is supported by Mars in Cancer, which gives the changes a protective quality. Mars creates movement, while Cancer asks whether that movement supports your emotional and physical well-being.
The most useful action may not be the most dramatic one. It may be changing a recurring meeting, creating a clearer boundary, asking for help, addressing something in your home, or building a routine that makes the rest of your life easier to sustain.
The question is simple:
Now that you know what needs to change, what are you actually going to do differently?

Do the New Moon work on your own chart
Everything above is the sky as it stands for all of us. The workbook is the version written for you. It carries New Moon exercises to actually sit with, with room to write, and it reads every day of September through your tropical, sidereal and BaZi charts at once.

Two planets cross 0°
The New Moon is only one part of what makes September 10 so significant.
On the same day, Venus enters Scorpio and Mercury enters Libra. Both planets enter their new signs at 0°, the very first degree.
In astrology, 0° is a threshold. A planet has just entered new territory, and a story is beginning before we understand exactly how it will develop.
This does not mean everything changes overnight. It means we are at the beginning of a process.
And Venus is the story I would pay the closest attention to.
Venus in Scorpio brings us back to 2018
Venus rules relationships, money, desire, beauty, self-worth, and what we value.
She is not especially comfortable in Scorpio because Scorpio brings everything beneath the surface. Questions of trust, intimacy, power, attachment, shared resources, and what we are afraid to lose become harder to avoid.
This matters because Venus is preparing to turn retrograde.
Venus enters Scorpio on September 10, stations retrograde on October 3, returns to Libra on October 25, and moves forward into Scorpio again in December. Something that surfaces now may develop through the end of the year.
The closest previous version of this cycle happened eight years ago.
In the fall of 2018, Venus also retrograded through Scorpio and Libra, moving across many of the same degrees she will revisit in 2026.
Think back to September through December 2018.
What was happening in your relationships?
What were you learning about trust, intimacy, money, fairness, or your own worth?
Did a relationship begin, end, or change form?
Were you confronting an imbalance between what you gave and what you received?
Did you become aware of something you genuinely wanted but were not yet ready to admit?
The same event does not have to repeat. Astrology is more useful when we treat cycles as opportunities to recognize a developing pattern rather than predictions that history will reproduce itself exactly.
You have eight more years of context now.
You know more about what you value. You know more about what you can tolerate. You may also understand the cost of remaining in a relationship, agreement, or definition of success that no longer feels right.
A question you were living through in 2018 may be returning because you are ready to answer it from a different place.
Where does Venus sit in your chart?
Venus will spend the rest of the year working through one part of your life rather than all of it. The Celestial Blueprint shows you which house she is crossing, what she touched there in 2018, and what she is likely to raise again.
Read Your BlueprintMercury in Libra: Name what needs to be renegotiated
Mercury enters Libra on the same day, bringing communication, fairness, agreements, and reciprocity into the picture.
This can help us find language for what Venus in Scorpio is revealing.
If you have been avoiding a conversation to keep the peace, you may begin to recognize the cost of maintaining that peace.
Perhaps an agreement needs to be clarified. A responsibility needs to be redistributed. A boundary needs to be spoken rather than privately hoped for.
Libra wants to consider both sides, but consideration can become indecision when we are afraid that telling the truth will disturb the balance.
The question here is not only whether an arrangement is technically fair. It is whether it still feels honest.
Uranus retrograde in Gemini: Question the assumption beneath the decision
Uranus also stations retrograde in Gemini on September 10.
Uranus is associated with disruption, liberation, innovation, and sudden changes in awareness. Gemini is connected to information, language, learning, communication, and the ideas through which we understand the world.
As Uranus turns inward, we may begin reconsidering the assumptions behind our choices.
If you have been circling the same decision, the decision itself may not be the problem. You may be trying to make it using an old definition of success, safety, loyalty, or belonging.
Ask yourself:
- Where did this definition come from?
- Is it still true?
- What information have I been unwilling to consider?
- What would become possible if I stopped treating an old assumption as a permanent fact?
Pay particular attention to ideas, conversations, technologies, or changes in perspective that first appeared between July and November 2025, when Uranus made its initial entrance into Gemini. Themes that have developed since Uranus returned to Gemini in April 2026 may also be ready for review.
The Virgo and Fire Rooster connection
The Chinese calendar adds another layer to this moment.
Only a few days before the New Moon, we enter the Yin Fire Rooster month.
The Rooster is a purely Yin Metal branch associated with precision, discernment, presentation, and noticing what is out of place. Yin Fire is a smaller, more focused flame. It illuminates details.
Virgo and Rooster come from completely different traditions. They should not be treated as interchangeable, but their messages converge in an interesting way.
Both ask us to look carefully.
Both bring greater sensitivity to what is working and what is not.
Both can help us refine our decisions, standards, and systems.
They also share a similar risk. Discernment can become criticism. The desire to improve something can turn into endless revision, self-judgment, or an inability to move until every detail feels resolved.
When you notice yourself scanning for flaws, ask:
What here is genuinely worth refining?
One part of your life may deserve more care. Another may already be finished. Something else may need to be released so your attention can go somewhere more useful.
How to work with the September 10 New Moon
Start by thinking back to the fall of 2018.
Look through old photographs, messages, calendars, journals, or emails if you have them. Memory becomes much more specific when it has something concrete to attach to.
Notice what was changing in your relationships, finances, creative work, identity, or understanding of your own value.
Then bring your attention back to the present.
What question from that period are you still living through?
How has your answer changed?
Choose one action that reflects what the last eight years have taught you.
You might change a repeated part of your day that still belongs to an older version of your life.
You might raise a standard you have been negotiating away.
You might have the conversation that makes an internal realization real.
The action does not need to resolve the entire story. Venus will continue moving through this territory for the rest of the year. September 10 is the opening chapter.
How September 10 may meet your Day Master
September 10 carries the same collective astrology for everyone, but it may bring a different decision to the surface for each person.
Your Day Master is the elemental core of your BaZi birth chart. It can help you understand where this moment may be asking you to move.
Wood Day Masters
Something you have been thinking about may need a real response. Mercury entering Libra puts conversations and agreements in focus, while Uranus retrograde may expose the assumption that has kept you circling the same question.
Yang Wood
You may be ready to address an expectation that no longer works at work or in a relationship. Before the conversation, decide what you are asking for: more support, a clearer role, a different commitment, or an exit.
Yin Wood
You may be waiting for an idea or feeling to become fully formed. Share the draft. Send the proposal. Ask the question. A real response may tell you more than continuing to work it out alone.
Fire Day Masters
September 10 may show you that you cannot give equal energy to everything asking for your attention. Venus entering Scorpio brings your real desires and values closer to the surface. The Virgo New Moon asks which choices you can actually sustain.
Yang Fire
More than one person, project, or opportunity may want your attention. Look three months ahead. Which choice will you still have the energy to support after the initial excitement passes?
Yin Fire
One detail in a relationship or opportunity may keep catching your attention. Bring it into the conversation before you commit. Ask the question you need answered.
Earth Day Masters
A realization may need to become something practical. The Virgo New Moon brings the decision into your calendar, budget, responsibilities, and everyday life.
Yang Earth
An opportunity may sound exciting until you consider what it requires from you each day. Put it on the calendar. How much time, money, preparation, or recovery will it need?
Yin Earth
A work, financial, or relationship agreement may need greater specificity. Clarify who is responsible for what, when it will happen, and what each person will receive.
Metal Day Masters
An imbalance may become harder to overlook. Mercury in Libra draws attention to agreements and reciprocity. Venus in Scorpio makes the emotional and material stakes clearer.
Yang Metal
You may be stepping into greater responsibility without clearly defined authority. Ask what you own, which decisions you can make, and how success will be measured.
Yin Metal
If an exchange feels uneven, identify the concrete reason. Was a commitment missed? Is the price unclear? Is one person carrying more of the effort? Name the issue before deciding what it means.
Water Day Masters
Uranus retrograde in Gemini may bring an unexpected idea, introduction, or conversation. The Virgo New Moon asks you to test the possibility in real life.
Yang Water
A person, offer, or conversation may reveal a possible way forward. Ask for the details. Schedule the next conversation. Take one step that shows you whether the opportunity has somewhere to go.
Yin Water
An unexpected introduction, idea, or route may deserve a closer look. Follow up. Ask one more question. Explore where it leads before deciding whether it belongs in your future.
You are not the same person answering it
The New Moon on September 10 does not ask you to solve every question raised by eclipse season.
It asks you to make one part of your life more honest.
Think back to the fall of 2018.
What began then?
What did that period teach you about love, money, trust, worth, or what you genuinely wanted?
If the same question is returning now, what would you choose differently?
You have eight more years of context.
You are not the same person answering it.
